Relationships can be a source of comfort and belonging—and a place where our deepest hurts surface. Candis helps couples and families understand the patterns keeping them stuck and find more connected ways to move forward.

As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist-Associate, Candis provides virtual and in-person therapy (by request) to clients in North Carolina. Her work centers on dating, engaged, and married couples; adult siblings; parents and adult children; and parents raising young families. Whether clients are navigating recurring conflict, emotional distance, old wounds, or a new season of family life, she helps them recognize their needs, strengthen boundaries, and communicate with greater understanding.

Candis has provided premarital counseling since 2014 and has more than a decade of experience supporting young adults within faith communities in the United States and abroad. Her clinical experience includes working with children, teens, adults, couples, and families navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, divorce, and other life transitions. She has a particular interest in helping people change generational patterns and build homes where connection and emotional safety can grow.

She earned her Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from Northcentral University (now National University), where she was recognized as a President’s Merit Scholar. A member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT), she received additional training in trauma-informed care, cultural competency, and EMDR through the Minority Fellowship Program for Youth. Candis has also completed Level 1 and Level 2 training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy, adding practical tools to help couples strengthen friendship, navigate conflict, and build shared meaning. Her therapeutic approach draws from narrative, emotion-focused, and structural therapies, with EMDR incorporated when appropriate.

As a Seventh-day Adventist Christian, Candis understands how faith can shape relationships, family life, and identity. For clients who desire it, she welcomes incorporating Christian faith and biblical perspectives into therapy. Clients of all faiths and no faith are welcome! Faith integration is always optional.
