Candis Braxton
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate

Candis Braxton is a Licensed Marriage and Family Associate Therapist who provides virtual therapy to clients across the state of North Carolina and in-person therapy with clients in the Fayetteville area (upon request). She received her clinical training from Northcentral University earning her Master of Arts degree in Marriage and Family Therapy where she was recognized as a President's Merit Scholar. She is a member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) and received further training as a MFP-Y fellow in trauma-informed care, cultural competency and EMDR. As an active member in her faith community (Christian- SDA), Candis is able to provide clients with a more spiritually connected and Bible-centered therapeutic experience upon request.

Candis is no stranger to the work of helping individuals build healthy relationships. She has been working with couples since 2014 providing pre-marital counseling and has been counseling young adults within her faith community, domestically and abroad, for over 10 years. Clinically, she has worked with children, teens, young adults, couples and families dealing with anxiety, depression, unresolved trauma, divorce, life transitions, grief and disorder management. She has helped her clients gain personal awareness of their emotional needs and expectations, has helped families identify patterns of interaction that are getting in the way of them achieving the connection they desire and has helped couples learn how to communicate in less threatening and more constructive ways. She especially loves working with emerging adults around issues of identity, establishing healthy boundaries, breaking negative generational cycles and regulating emotions. In practice, she utilizes interventions from narrative, emotion-focused, and structural therapies and has found EMDR to be very helpful in her work with clients working through unresolved childhood traumas.
